Artist Statement
In my artistic practice, primarily through performance and participatory art projects, I strive to deconstruct various social stereotypes, with a focus on marginalized or hidden individual and collective identities. By nurturing documentary approach and dealing with a variety of media experiments, I approach the research from the specific position of performer-recycler, mostly using DIWO methods and strategies of appropriation and self-proclamation. In this way, I create hybrid narratives and identities that, as a place of creative resistance, aim to reveal paradoxical relationships and positions within different systems and closed social structures. By opening up the space for multi-layered interpretations, I try to establish and encourage a complex interaction between the audience and the artwork. Blurring borderlines between performer(s) and audience, art and life, drives me into temptation to treat the collective body effectively as a fluid form susceptible to be, to some extent, modeled and manipulated, actively questioning the position and role of participatory performance in communicating the problems of certain social groups.
